Yet ano<strong>the</strong>r is laureated,but agrees with <strong>the</strong> die <strong>of</strong> a larger medal, see No. 38.<strong>The</strong> Scottish pattern crown (Burns, 1094) <strong>of</strong> 1 716 is madefrom <strong>the</strong> same obverse puncheon as <strong>the</strong> English <strong>of</strong>1709 ;five dies for obv. <strong>and</strong> two for rev. are in Young'scollection. <strong>The</strong> obv. dies may have been originallydesigned in 1708. Young produced confusion bycombining diesfor <strong>the</strong> guineas, hypo<strong>the</strong>tically usinga medal die with English title with an unfinishedScottish reverse (see Burns, 1096), <strong>and</strong> a die with drapedbust, probably intended for a shilling, bearing <strong>the</strong>Scottish legend, with <strong>the</strong> finished reverse (Burns, 1095).Two puncheons <strong>and</strong> an undated embryo reverse diewith Scottish arms may be, as per Roettiers's list, for<strong>the</strong> 17089 coinage. <strong>The</strong>re are two o<strong>the</strong>r unfinished<strong>and</strong> three finished guineareverse dies.
