Norbert Roettierswith regard to <strong>the</strong> Puncheons & Dies for Medals which hisfa<strong>the</strong>r by will ordered to be sold for certain uses, <strong>and</strong> which<strong>the</strong> said Norbert purchased <strong>of</strong> his sisters <strong>and</strong> caused to bebrought over into France about four years ago, do out <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>duty which I owe to truth <strong>and</strong> justice make <strong>the</strong> followingdeclaration viz.That I have <strong>of</strong>ten heard <strong>the</strong> said Norbert Roettiers lamenthis fa<strong>the</strong>rs being in such circumstances as to be obliged inorder to make a proper provision for his family, to giveorders for <strong>the</strong> selling <strong>of</strong> his puncheons & dies for Medals,<strong>the</strong> thing in <strong>the</strong> world to which he was <strong>the</strong> most averse asbeing infinitely desirous to keep all his work in his family,in so much that when he made any puncheon for Medals <strong>of</strong>for which <strong>the</strong> sum <strong>of</strong> 200 Ib was his statedparticular persons,price, he would never agree to part with <strong>the</strong> property <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>puncheon, but only obliged himself to strike as many medalsfor such particular persons as <strong>the</strong>y desired & furnished himwith metal for striking, but <strong>the</strong> said Norbert always consideredthose puncheons as his Fa<strong>the</strong>rs absolute property &thought that he had a right to sell or dispose <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>m as hesaw fit ;That <strong>the</strong> said Norbert expressed himself as veryuneasy at <strong>the</strong> disposition his fa<strong>the</strong>r made <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>m by hisWill & used all <strong>the</strong> interest he had with his sisters to keep<strong>the</strong>m from selling <strong>the</strong>m out <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>ir family being always inhopes <strong>of</strong> being able to purchase <strong>the</strong>m himself ;That in <strong>the</strong>year 1723 William Taylor, Esq re .
