Target Audience
Providers of lung health;practitioners who perform or
who are interested in bronchoscopy and EBUS; physicians-in-training.
Objectives
At the conclusion of this session, the participant will be able to:
• identify the indications and diagnostic yield of EBUS;
• understand the various factors that can affect diagnostic yield, safety and
efficiency of EBUS;
• apply the information learned to plan an optimal EBUS procedure with
consideration of the various equipment and support available.
Endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS) was introduced in the last decade, enabling
real-time guidance of transbronchial needle aspiration (TBNA) of mediastinal
and hilar structures and parabronchial lung masses. Many publications about
EBUS-TBNA have led to a better understanding of the performance
characteristics of this procedure. The goal of this workshop is to examine the
current literature on the practical aspects of EBUS-TBNA to provide
evidence-based and expert guidance to clinicians.
