Study of Beam-beam Effects with a Nonlinear Map at SuperKEKB
SuperKEKB is an upgrade plan of the present
KEKB, whose designed luminosity is 4E35/ M. Tawada, K. Ohmi (KEK)
cm 2 /sec. It has a high vertical beam-beam
parameter of 0.18. Because the horizontal tune is very close to half integer and the dynamic beta effect is strong,
the betatron amplitude at the final quadrupole magnets would be large. The higher-order multipole components at
the large amplitude may degrade the beam lifetime and the luminosity performance. We have studied the nonlinear
effect on beam-beam performance at SuperKEKB.
The Status of the BEPCII Project
For the BEPCII Team: As a natural extension
of the Beijing Electron-Positron Collider C. Zhang, L. Ma (IHEP Beijing)
(BEPC), the BEPCII project has started its
construction since the beginning of 2004. BEPCII will operate in beam energy of 1-2.1 GeV, its design luminosity
is 1*10 33 cm- 2 s- 1 at 1.89 GeV with double-ring structure. The upgrading of the collider will also provide improved
synchrotron radiation performance with higher beam energy and intensity. Some key technologies, such as superconducting
RF system, low impedance vacuum devices, superconducting micro-beta quadrupoles, etc. are developed.
The injector linac commissioning was carried out for the first round, and its designed performance is expected in
the summer of 2006. Manufacturing of most storage ring components is completed. The upgrading of the utility
for BEPCII is finished. The tunnel will be ready for BEPCII installation in February 2006. The cryogenic system
commissioning and then test/measurement of the superconducting devices are on the critical path of the BEPCII
schedule. The commissioning of the storage rings is planned to be started with normal magnets in the interaction
region in the autumn of 2006. The project is scheduled to be c
Beams Injection System for e + e − Collider VEPP-2000
Electron-positron collider VEPP-2000 is under
commissioning at the Budker Institute of
Nuclear Physics. The paper presents the injection
system of the collider delivering the
beam from the booster storage ring BEP with
maximum energy 900 MeV. A matching of the beam injection with the storage ring optics is done with respect to a
nonlinear kicker field. Features of beam diagnostic and transfer line magnets including pulse septums (100 mksec;
30 kGs) and fast kickers (20 nsec; 70 kV) are described. Results of the magnetic measurements and their comparison
to calculated data are given.
