Implementation of TPSA in the Mathematica Code LieMath
The Lie Algebra package LieMath written
in the Mathematica language constructs the D. Kaltchev (TRIUMF)
beamline map in a single-exponent Lie generator
form. The algorithm (BCH-based map concatenation) has been recently enhanced with Truncated Power Series
Algebra (TPSA) techniques. The polynomials produced by the series expansion of the Hamiltonian are replaced with
arrays of coefficients (derivative structures) and the Poisson bracket and BCH are defined as operations on such structures.
We have confirmed the statement that using automatic differentiation instead of symbolic operations increases
the speed by least an order of magnitude. The code is equipped with a MAD parser and a normal form block allowing
it to extract nonlinear chromaticity and amplitude detuning. The notebook was applied in FFAG studies and may be
useful for the linear collider final focus or collimation systems.
6-D Transmission in Muon and Electron Linear FFAGs
Extensive simulations of 6-D transmission
simulations in linear, non-scaling FFAGs, F. Meot (CEA) F. Lemuet (CERN)
based on gutter rapid acceleration, are reported.
They concern two different on-going projects: the 20∼GeV muon accelerators in the Neutrino Factory
(NuFact) with ISS parameters* and a 20∼MeV electron model of these machines, EMMA**.
Optimization of Beam Injection Using Higher Order Modes Signal into the First Accelerating
Module at the TTF Linac
Tesla Test Facility (TTF) is a user facility at
DESY, equipped with RF modules. A misalignment
of the first module with respect
the gun has been already observed using di-
pole modes, and the efficiency of this method has been already proved. Each cavity in TTF has two higher order
modes (HOM), and they can provide useful diagnostic signals. Since they are easy to identify, and their amplitude
depends linearly on the beam offset from the cavity axis, they are excellent beam position monitors, and useful to
minimize the wakefield, related to the emittance growth. A time-domain based recorder system, built at SLAC and
installed at TTF, has been tested and used in the experimental study of single bunch generated HOM signals. This
talk presents the experimental results of the optimization of the beam injection into the first module, by capturing
information from each mode.
Performances of the SOLEIL Operating Point in the Presence of Real Magnet Characteristics
The SOLEIL storage ring operating point,
presented at EPAC04 (WEPLT079), was optimized
in terms of linear and non-linear beam
dynamics, in order to reach a ± 6% transverse
