Sometimes men think that the women of their village
have committed an offence and, to make amend for
it, they must pay a fine. Following the dances imitating
the masks at the hogon's funeral, the women have
to pay a fine to the Wala Banga (chief of the mask altar).
It is to pay for the purification of the Wala altar,
otherwise the Dama cannot be held.
Normalement, le Puro se tient indépendamment des
cérémonies funéraires (page 320). Parfois les hommes
estiment que les femmes de leur village ont commis
une offense et que celle-ci doit être réparée au moyen
du paiement d'une amende. Dans le cas des funérailles
du hogon et à la suite des danses imitant les
masques, les femmes doivent payer une amende au
Wala Banga (chef de l'autel des masques). C'est le prix
du sacrifice nécessaire à la purification du Wala sans
quoi le Dama ne peut avoir lieu.
