DID YOU KNOW?
Coir has a close to neutral pH, unlike peat moss which tends to be acidic. Coir, will absorb water till its
tubes are full letting the excess drain off. It is often used as a additive to many popular soil blends, as a
conditioner and a wetting agent.
Coco Chips Washed 5kg
Husk chips of various sizes are used in many of FibreDust’s custom growing blends. They are increasingly important
in high tech hydroponic greenhouses with growers who must irrigate with nutrient solution several times per day to
deliver hydroponic nutrients and oxygen to roots.
These 5kg blocks of chips are available in several chip sizes and are 100% husk chips. Often, growers will blend
chips with “pith” the smaller particle known as coco peat. This increases the both drainage and oxygen
levels. Popular blends include 50/50 Peat to chips and fiber, a great choice for high tech tomatoes. 30/70
peat to coir is often used for berries and Cucumbers. 70/30 pith to chips and fiber is great for lower tech
growing as it has heavy water holding capacity but still excellent drainage.
FibreDust provides popular pith to chip blends in their 3’ lay-flat grow bag products with custom
blends available based on client needs. Please see previous Page 268.
