Andrew Cohen is not just a spiritual teacher—he is an inspiring<br />

phenomenon. Since his awakening in 1986 he has<br />

only lived, brea<strong>the</strong>d and spoken of one thing: <strong>the</strong> potential<br />

for total liberation from <strong>the</strong> bondage of ignorance, superstition<br />

and selfishness. Powerless to limit his unceasing investigation,<br />

he has looked at <strong>the</strong> “jewel of enlightenment” from<br />

every angle, and given birth to a teaching that is vast and<br />

subtle, yet incomparably direct and revolutionary in its impact<br />

ANDREW COHEN WAS BORN in New York City in 1955.<br />

He spent his formative years—ei<strong>the</strong>r from ages five to fifteen<br />

(Cohen, 1992), or from age three into his twenties (Tarlo, 1997),<br />

depending on whom you choose to believe—undergoing psychoanalysis.<br />

When Cohen was sixteen years old, he experienced a spontaneous<br />

expansion of consciousness “in all directions simultaneously”<br />
