Gressoney, winter 2018, snow-making system. / Gressoney, inverno 2018, impianto di innevamento.
Finally, it must be considered, from an
environmental point of view, that almost all of
the water transformed into snow on the slopes,
when melted, returns to the same catchment
areas from which it came.
Todayʼs challenge, also driven by rising energy
costs, leads to the pursuit of maximum efficiency
in terms of the amount of snow produced.
The current front involves the use of satellite
measuring systems installed on the snow
groomers that allow the exact height of snow on
the slope to be measured. In this way, the areas
that need snow and those that are sufficiently
covered can be determined in even greater
detail. In this way, a saving of 5-10% of the
required snow volume can be expected, and thus
a similar reduction in water, energy and cost
consumption.
In conclusion, it can be said that the focus
on costs and environmental sustainability of
snowmaking systems is increasing. It cannot be
done without, but it can always be done better. •
misura satellitari installati sui mezzi battipista
neve in pista. In questo modo si determinano con
ancora maggior dettaglio le zone che necessitano
di innevamento e quelle che, invece, sono
sufficientemente coperte.
