deal with his worries in the best way, and he willin the meantime have experienced a genuine even iftemporary happiness.The secret of happiness is this: let your interests beas wide as possible, and let your reactions to thethings and persons that interest you be as far aspossible friendly rather than hostile.This preliminary survey of the possibilities ofhappiness will be expanded in subsequentchapters, together with suggestions as to ways ofescaping from psychological sources of misery.
