SUSTAINABLE BUILDING MATERIALS FOR A NET ZERO EMISSIONS FUTURE 111 Now is the time when the world faces a global chaos of climate change so critical that every region must urgently reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The construction industry is a key defendant as a major energy consumer and emitter of huge amounts of carbon dioxide. According to the 2022 Global Status Report for Buildings and Construction of the United Nations Environment Programme, after the outbreak of COVID-19, the construction industry has recovered and is responsible for 34 percent of global energy consumption. It also emitted 37 percent of carbon dioxide from energy and related processes in 2021, the highest amount in history. It reached 10 GtCO2, 5 percent more than in 2020 and 2 percent higher than before the COVID-19 outbreak in 2019. ในวัันที่่ โลกเผชิิญกับภาวัะโลกรวัน เกิดการเปล่ยนแปลงสภาพภูมิิอากาศ จนทีุ่กภูมิิภาคต้้องลดการ ปล่อยก๊าซเรือนกระจกอย่างเร่งด่วัน อุต้สาหกรรมก ่อสร้างเป็ นจำาเลยสำค ัญในฐานะที่่เป็ นผู้บริโภค พลังงานรายใหญ่และปลดปล่อยคาร์บอนไดออกไซด์ปริมิาณมิหาศาล โดยภายหลังการระบาดของ COVID-19 อุต้สาหกรรมก ่อสร้างได้ฟื้้ นตััวัและมิ่ส่วันในการบริโภคพลังงานของโลกถึึงร้อยละ 34 และยังปลดปล่อยคาร์บอนไดออกไซด์จากพลังงานและกระบวันการที่่เก่ยวข ้องคิดเป็ นร้อยละ 37 ในปี 2021 ซึ งเป็ นปริมิาณสูงที่่สุดในประวััติิศาสตร ์ โดยสูงถึึง 10 GtCO2 มิากกว่่าช่่วังปี 2020 ถึึง ร้อยละ 5 และสูงกว่่าช่่วังก่อนการระบาดของ COVID-19 ในปี 2019 ถึึงร้อยละ 2
