solar shielding while offering dimensional texture
and finish. Aside from the carefully selected roofing
material, the technique itself had to be done in a
particular way in order for the pattern to line with
the roof’s edges, making the construction even
more time-consuming.
Every component of the design, from the furnishings
to the bath tub, knobs, railings, lamps, and even
the keys to the villas, is specifically designed for
the project. With vernacular residential architecture
as the apparent inspiration, the interior decoration
of the villas frequently includes details of
nooks and corners where furniture pieces are
hung, such as the vanity set with lights, a mirror,
a shelf, and so on.
Patamma’s design emphasizes the use of sustainable
materials that are easy to maintain. The environmental
graphic design of the project, from the typeface to the
color palette to the graphic elements, reflects a
creative adaptation of local wisdom and identity.
IF not only integrates and rearranges these ‘local’
aspects to their own interpretation of ‘contemporary’
design. The team demonstrates the work’s high
regard for pre-existing nature as well as the innovative
and constructive use of local materials to improve
the quality of the architecture, all of which represent
a well-balanced coexistence between humans and
the environment.
