HERE, THERE, AND EVERYWHERE 75 The building’s optimized natural ventilation and lowered interior temperature, with the strategic placement of trees and a pond, further complements its energy efficiency. These elements work together to facilitate the provision of thermal comfort to users, reducing the dependence on air-conditioning systems and establishing the building as an inspiring example of energy-efficient modern office architecture. 11 ภาพแสดงทิศทางของ แสงแดด และหลักการ ระบายอากาศของอาคาร The architectural design’s distinct inclusion of green spaces on the second, third, and fourth floors strategically positions them as green nodes throughout the building. At the center of the layout sits a spacious corridor that provides access to other functional spaces. The team responsible for landscape architecture designed a section of the pathway to serve as a semi-outdoor communal area. The space is intended to provide employees with an opportunity to unwind, engage in conversation, and maybe work on their laptops if they so choose. Certain parts of this walkway have been intentionally designed into voids, serving as vertical connectors between different floors within the building. The common space is visible from each floor, allowing individuals to observe the ongoing activities. The layout not only fosters a spacious, open shared space but also facilitates interdepartmental contact among staff. The functional program incorporates several natural components that are designed to enhance the thermal comfort of the building and its occupants. The architectural team designs a building envelope made of perforated aluminum sheets, which serve as an external layer that protects the interior spaces from sunlight, heat, and rain while also offering a degree of privacy for the areas that need it. The metal shell incorporates design elements that are reminiscent of the continuous lines found on electrical circuits, alluding to the company’s image and contribution to the technological sector. The varying extents of the shell’s openness are designed to correspond with the interior spaces, where some necessitate full enclosure while others require complete or partial openness. For example, the architectural structure allows visual access to both the communal area and the fitness facility. In settings that demand more seclusion, such as meeting rooms or executive offices, enclosed walls are built with limited openings. This strategic arrangement serves to effectively regulate sunlight while still facilitating ventilation and shielding the spaces from external visual intrusion. “This building does not provide complete protection against rainfall; nonetheless, it is important to note that the office areas within the building are totally shielded. However, certain places are designated to withstand exposure to the rain during periods of non-use, namely the communal spaces that the staff use during their free time. At first glance, the building may appear to possess a high degree of openness. However, our design approach involves the deliberate integration of a distinct arrangement of sizable openings while intentionally opting against complete openness on all sides. In order to mitigate excessive airflow and protect the interior spaces from rainfall, one side remains open while the other is enclosed. Additionally, we designed a built-in water drainage system on the outer perimeter of the structure.” The landscape architecture team at URBANIS designs a vertical garden as a means of safeguarding the indoor workstations against various environmental factors such as sunshine, wind, rain, and dust. The vertical garden visually intertwines itself into the building’s different floor levels, as well as the perforated aluminum shells, office spaces and rooms with glass partitions, and the void in the central common area, as well as the rooftop garden. The vertical landscape functions as a forest, imbuing the building’s functional space with a beautiful, natural ambiance.
