THINK TANK 59 8 08 พื้นที่ใต้ถุนของห้องสมุด สำหรับนั่งพักผ่อน พบปะ พูดคุย The site of the project is situated on a 2-rai 2-ngan section of the Public Health Service Center, which once supplied the community with water from its original tower. The structure, formerly the municipal water tower designated for internal use, has been deserted for over three-and-a-half decades. In an effort to create a communal space, the structure was intentionally planned as a public library. This is because the Tha Chalom community’s land is predominantly utilized for industrial purposes, including a port and a fishery product processing facility. Limited public space exists within the city. Additionally, the project endeavors to establish a venue that can facilitate emerging community endeavors, including community tourism, when the community is attempting to implement its development policies rooted in local culture amidst a stagnant fisheries industry crisis. The community had an architectural inclination towards the building’s embodiment of Tha Chalom’s identity. Consequently, community members reached a consensus that the fishing boat constitutes the unique identifier of Tha Chalom; the essence and beating heart of Tha Chalom are the boats. In light of this, the design team devised a method for disassembling the ship’s sedan to accommodate the water tower’s original structure. This involved considering the shape and size of the openings and the proportion of the actual boat’s cabin.
