SOWING THE SEEDS 45 RESTAURANT PLAN 11 The developmental strategy employed for Patamma aims to not only cultivate and nurture a new woodland but also create a space that can have positive effects on the community. The project exemplifies a harmonious partnership between a visionary private owner and the public sector, working in tandem to sustainably improve Nan River, its surrounding areas and communities. In addition, the construction of meticulously designed weirs serves as a catalyst for efficiently regulating the river’s flow while simultaneously breathing new life into the ecosystem. The design of the project draws inspiration from the vast expanse of the flowing currents of the Nan River. The architectural design concept beautifully weaves together the essence of vernacular architecture and contemporary design, blending them into the visuals and functions of the restaurant and nine luxurious villas of the resort. The architectural composition eloquently embodies the quintessence of a vernacular home in the southern region, integrating bespoke elements that align with the project’s inherent character to craft a beautifully unique design language. Patamma is a creation that emerged from a masterplan that was meticulously developed and designed to be a home for young, freshly grown trees. These saplings exhibit a lengthy growth process, gradually transforming into exquisite specimens, akin to a front yard garden of one’s home that fosters a profound sense of attachment over the passage of time. The elevated roof, a quintessential architectural feature of vernacular dwellings in Nan province, renders a harmonious balance of shade and natural light. The architectural form takes cues from the organic contours of the river weir, seamlessly integrating the physicality of pebbles found in the river bed within its design. “Pa Kam Kin,” whose name is a clever play on words in the northern Thai language, is a restaurant nestled within Patamma’s premises. As the first architectural creation to ever be built on the land, the restaurant is intended to bring new heights of recognition among both locals and travelers to the project.
