Typical Reflectometer Traces
This section compares two typical scenarios, a core network
and a distribution network, to explain the importance of PON
Reflectometer Trace Analysis.
For the core network, the OTDR trace shows the splices and
connectors along the link.The analysis of this trace is simple, and it
is done automatically by most of the OTDRs currently on the
market. The OTDR provides a signature of the link and a table of
events, which can be stored for maintenance purposes
