337. The peculiarity of the compound transitive verb is<br />

that in all the past tenses the 'suffix pronouns' or personal<br />

endings are joined to the noun or adjective employed, and<br />

the auxiliary appears in its simple tense stem. The negative<br />

is formed by simply prefixing the negative particle > or u<br />

to the tense stem. In all tenses employing the inseparable<br />

prefixes i (da) or > (bi), except in the imperfect indicative,<br />

the negative particles are substituted for the prefixes. Ex-<br />

amples:j»5vj _^\>-(hazir na-k-(a)m) or j»3 iJ _^ l>- (hazir na-<br />

k-(a)m) 'I do not prepare', or 'I will not prepare';<br />

Xj J»l>- 4Xij(ranga hazir na-k-(a)m) 'I may or might not<br />

prepare' ; i p a, . J?W(hazir-i()m na-da-kirt) I was not pre¬<br />

paring'; e3i S J^r^l>-(hazir-ri kirdii-a) 'you have prepared';<br />
