ing (e).<br />

Examples: (Nouns taking the case-ending 'i') : (j\j)<br />

(bra-i) 'brother'; J^ (qissa-i) 'word'; ^\; (bab-i) 'father';<br />

iCi^ (dalk-i) 'mother', etc. (Nouns taking the case-end¬<br />

ing 'e') : (S^ (shaw-e) 'night' ; J^^^^ (sibhaine) 'morn¬<br />

ing'; jy^-ş- (chöm-e) 'river'; ^ylj (wan-e) 'Wan'; t^j^<br />

(qörr-e) 'mud'; ^U (mal-e) 'house'; ^%>-j^ (saijj-<br />

balagh-e) 'Soujbulak', etc.<br />

94. The Nominative Case is formed, as a rule, by suffixing<br />

the definite or indefinite arricle to the original stem of the<br />

noun.<br />

Examples: a^[. (malaka) 'the house', 4JU jI (au mala)<br />

'the house' (lit. 'this or that house'), dUU (maiek) 'a house' ;<br />

iii jL (piawaka) 'the man', oj[^_ j\ (au piawa) 'the man',<br />

dJbjU (piawek) 'a man'; ,^^1^ (katebaka) 'the book',<br />

4_2^^Kaû kateba) 'the book', dL^ (katebek) 'a book,'<br />

etc.<br />

95. The Genitive Case is formed by employing the pre-<br />

posirion ^_^[ (i) 'of, with or without the arricle suffixes.<br />

Examples: JU (j\ (i mal-e) 'of the house' (without any<br />

definite article), JiCiU (S\ (i malaka-i) 'of the house',<br />

JU j\ (j;|(i au mala-i) 'of the (this or that)house'..<br />

96. In a sentence, the preposition cj,]^ (i) is contracted into<br />

the preposirional suffix ^1 (-i). Ex. iS\^>\ (S'^ A ^y^-T^<br />

(haspaka-i bra-i padisha-i) 'the horse of the King's brother'.
