3018 “Pocket games”: An idea to strenghten bonds between adults and children
Lucyelena Amaral Picelli - Brazil ( lupicelli@hotmail.com )
The objective of this work is to disseminate the idea of “pocket games”
as another possibility of stimulating play between adults and children,
as well as promoting the experience as a professional who believes
that the ludic is essential for the healthy development of the human
being as a whole, thus registering a teaching practice for the training
of teachers who also value the play. The International Playing Day is
one important date for actions and reflections about the importance
of play for the human life, especially in the context in which we live nowadays.
The Toy Library of the Paraná University - UNIPAR in the city
of UmuaramaPR, along with the Pedagogy Course, carries out on this
day an awareness campaign called: “It is not enough to be a father, you
must play”. One of the actions, in an educational blitz , with the aim of
gifting the people addressed, is the delivery of a “pocket game” explaining
to everyone that playing between children and adults can collaborate
for the strengthening of bonds, greater cognitive and affective
development, among other benefits. The “pocket games” created by
us are some of the traditional games, which are part of the popular culture
present in some literatures that show us their history, importance
and application. They are manufactured in a miniature size for easy
handling, some with few pieces and convenient to carry in any environment
and opportunity for family or social events. Six games have
been created and built, up to now, with simple rules in order to perpetuate
the manifestations of the popular culture, as well as providing
emotional and social interaction between adults and children (sons
and parents; grandsons and grandparents; nephews and uncles, older
and younger brothers, everyone from the family). The “pocket games”
we elaborated and manufactured were: “PICK-A-STICK”, “OTEDAMA”,
“HOPSCOTCH”, “CAT’S CRADLE”, “ELASTIC SKIPPING” and “BEZZET”.
The games are stored in sealed bags (5x8cm) presenting each one’s rules,
some of them are illustrated. We have noticed that this action has
caused a motivation to play, verbally reported by the people who receive
these gifts, for their originality and convenience.
