3033 Hospital toy library: perception that parents of hospitalized cardiopatic children have of playing benefits
Edgar Yamaguchi - Brazil ( edgary@hotmail.com.br )
This research evaluates the importance of the ludic activities performed
at the Clinics Hospital Heart Institute (HC – InCor) toy library. 30
parentsguardians of hospitalized cardiopatic children (2 – 12 years old)
answered a specially ellaborated questionnaire on infrastructure, activities
performed by their children and the benefits perceived after
the activities proposed by the toy librarians, under the guidance of
psychologists in charge. It was found that 100% noticed an improvement
in the compliance with the treatment and in the doctor-patient
relationship, and would recommend the hospital toy library to other
3041 Hospital Toy Library and School – a shared space
Jane Leila da Silva Mendonça – Brazil ( janeleilasm@yahoo.com.br )
One of the objectives of this study is to show that it is possible to share
the toy library space with the hospital school class, even though being
a challenge to the hospital professor or ecucator. Another not less important
objective is the reintegration of this studentpatient, and for that
it is not the physical space that is necessary, but the professional commitment
that should exist beyond any barrier. To this end, one year of
effective work was necessary at the internment sector of oncology at
the Darcy Vargas Children’s Hospital in the state of São Paulo. Contacts
with the schools of origin, pedagogical survey, preparation of material
3030 Experience in a hospital toy library: paths and challenges
Thiáskara Ramile Caldas Leite; Naidhia Alves Soares Ferreira; Joana
D’Arc Esmeraldo - Brazil ( thiaskara_eu@hotmail.com )
The objective of this study is to relate the experience of “the color of
smile” group, associated to the nursing course in the Juazeiro do Norte
Faculty, which develops specialization activities at the Casa da Amelinha
hospital toy library in the city of Juazeiro do Norte – CE (Cariri
region), evidencing the challenge of engaging health professionals,
volunteers and caregivers in the toy library routine of activities. Some
challenges are characterized by space itself, by ventilation, by toys
parents of patients newly admitted. The results show that playing at
the toy library, besides giving continuity to the process of cognitive,
motor, social, emotional, cultural, affective, linguistic and sensory development,
promotes relaxation and helps the hospitalized children to
fell safer, as they are able to control the environment in their imagination.
The study was made possible thanks to a multidisciplinary team
who developed a humanized assistance. Further research about the
subject is suggested.
suitable for the limitations, age group and needs of each one. The work
performed in 2008 resulted in the following data: total of admissions:
91 (age between 0 and 18 years old); pedagogical counselling: 51 (age
between 6 and 18); deaths: 20 (age between 6 and 18); reintegration to
the school of origin: 31. In Considerations about learning , the author
Daisy S. de Queiroz makes clear that an area of teaching and learning
does not happen only in the classroom, and that learning is in various
circumstances and in the involvement of the pupil, which is proven in
this study.
suitable for younger children (cubes, balls) and by hygienization. It seems
that both the deployment and improvement of toy libraries still go
at a slow pace. This children’s hospital toy library is the only one in the
city, which corroborates that health policies should be made in order to
effectively show its importance, with trained professionals and facilities
that cope with such needs, opening perspectives for new initiatives
in the region.
