2996 The development of the Toy Library to an Inspiration Room

Toy Library concept, like other undergoes a continuous transformation
over time both in theory and in practice. We see an opportunity to
spread an idea that is not too costly for families and institutions and
stressing the importance of play and employment, in child and adolescent
development. The Inspirations room view can be adapted to all
countries regardless of the economy. UN Children’s Convention states
that all children have a right to play. Play is the key to child development.
It is in play the child develops their minds, their motor skills and
ability to interact. Most children play spontaneously. Children with disabilities,
physical or mental, often need the help of adults to play. The
mission of the Habilitation is to support children and families where
the child has a disability. The Inspiration Room is a development of the
Toy Library where parents could borrow toys. The goal of the Inspiration
room is an activity that gives inspiration and ideas on games for

children and adolescents who have difficulty finding appropriate play
materials and occupation. The toys will be current and available to buy
on the open market. The Inspiration Room has an Open house dayevening
once a month with different themes such as “”math playing””,
“”autism and play””, etc. where we show our material teaching tips,
simple adjustments and pursuits. We offer courses in simple adaptations
of toys and other materials. To the Open house dayevening
comes parents and staff in the child’s network. The Inspiration Room
is also shown at each single visit, for children and young people and
its network. We also receive visits from people interested in creating
a similar business because we were the first in Sweden to change and
develop our Toy Library to an Inspiration room.
