3031 The child’s imagination transforming the concrete area of Boomerang Toy Library
Marcela Bonetti; Priscila Rosseto Costa; Marlon Eij Marchetti – Brazil
( contato@brinquedotecabumerangue.com.br )
The present work intends to discuss the contribution of children for the
new ways of using the areas of Boomerang Toy Library, located in the
city of Campinas, SP, Brazil. We assume that “the game is limited, in
part, by the toy” (BROUGÈRE, 1995), from specific social functions up
to symbolic values of their own that transcend the real. In this way, we
observe that the child’s action is capable of transforming the relations
pre-established in the toy library space, creating an environment in
which heshe is the modifying agent, building hisher own identity from
the collective. It is verified that in Boomerang Toy Library the children
modify their ways of playing according to the daily experiences (depending
on gender and age group), allowing them to play in a way they
could not play elsewhere. The toy librarian’s presence represents the
mediator figure in the action of play, but is also magically formed in
the child s image who plays together, providing with the interaction a
change in the adult-child relation, including the hierarchy subject.
The actions of the “Man and Woman Historically Productive” Extension
Project of UFPR started in 2006 and are intended to attend children,
adolescents, adults and seniors. Among the interventions, there
are intergenerational activities that enable learning and the social development
through reflections, interactions, mutual support, exchange
of experiences, pleasure and leisure. Aiming to promote interaction
and exchange of experiences between the different generations; to
promote health education; to dialogue on the social determinants of
health and to facilitate strategies that promote the human development,
occupational performance and living in society. From April to
June 2009, activities were structured focusing on the intergenerational
relation in the group modality, highlighting the actions performed
at the CRAS Xapinhal Toy Library, in the city of CuritibaPR, activities
performed between children and seniors with focus on playing. Ludic
activities were made, characterized by cognitive games and corporal
expressive activities; productive activities, represented by the participants
building musical instruments from recycled trash. Results from
this time were many, such as dialogue, social interaction, solidarity, respect,
recovery of memories, rethinking social attitudes especially prejudice,
acquisition of new knowledge and cultural production in group.
The intergenerational activities make possible the active participation
of generations in the community, the improvement of psychosocial
skills, understanding and respect in face of the similarities and differences
between the different populations.
