to Childhood and Adolescence in the Mental Health Department
of CECCO-BTSMSPMSP produced important effects in building a network
of social support to children and adolescents in situation of social
vulnerability. The experience refers to the toy library implemented in
the V. Borges Basic Health Unit in partnership with the Providence Social
Center. The institutional strategies focused on play as one of the
concerning the implementation and functioning of these spaces; the
teams varied in relation to the number of members and formation; and
that both free and guided activities are offered.
the child for playing, enabling the access to different toys, games and
entertainment. Priority was given to grupal care, in an interdisciplinar
approach. It is important to point out that, as a result of this work, the
proposal was not limited to the traditional areas of the clinic, but took
playing to the schools, residences and other public spaces such as
squares, parks, streets, etc.
factors for protecting children in situation of social vulnerability. The
work, besides the large number of children attended, changed the look
of the community about their children, modified the relationship of
trust between the community and the public services, because working
in partnership asserted the importance of the function of the State in
creating public policies that enchance the community’s social capital.
