NOTES
• The current user manual is only valid for
VDW.GOLD ® devices upgraded with Software
version R 1.0. With this Software
Upgrade, the VDW.GOLD ® endo motor can
be used both in rotary as well as in reciprocating
mode. If you have upgraded your
VDW.GOLD ® with Software version R 1.0,
please replace your current VDW.GOLD ®
user manual with these instructions.

R 1.0, please refer to the separate
Upgrade Instructions in your RECIPROC ®
Upgrade Kit.
• For detailed instructions on how to use
RECIPROC ® instruments, please refer to

in your RECIPROC ® Upgrade Kit or
consult www.reciproc.com.
• If you have already used your VDW.GOLD ®
device, the initial steps for preparing and
installing the device described in these
instructions might not be relevant for you.
As you have added a new function to your
endo motor, we recommend, however, to
read these directions for use completely
and thoroughly.
2. Indications for Use
FOR DENTAL USE ONLY!
VDW.GOLD ® upgraded with Software R 1.0 is a
medical device in accordance with the Medical
Device Directive 93/42/EEC, amended with the
Directive 2007/47/EC. The endo motor is exclusively
designed for use by dentists with dental
root canal instruments in continuous rotation and
in reciprocating movement with integrated apex
locator (endometric length determination).
This device may only be used by qualified dental
professionals in hospital settings, clinics or dental
practices.

3. Contraindications
Do not use the device for implants or other nonendodontic
dental procedures.
4. Warnings
This chapter contains a description of severe
adverse reactions and potential safety hazards for
the product or the user/patient. Please read the
following warnings before use.
WARNINGS
Upgrade
• The RECIPROC ® Upgrade to Software R
1.0 will reset the VDW.GOLD ® , meaning
the device will return to its factory default
parameters. This reset will also include deletion
of all individual Dr’s Choice settings.
Users
• The device is designed for use in dental
care and may only be operated by trained,
qualified professionals, e.g. dentists.
Ambient Conditions
• The device should not be placed in damp
areas or anywhere where the device may
come into contact with any type of liquids.
• Do not expose the device to any direct or
indirect sources of heat. The device must
be operated and stored in a safe environment.
• Do not use the device in the presence
of free oxygen, anaesthetic substances or
flammable products. The device must be
operated and stored in a safe environment.
• The device requires special safety precautions
with regard to electromagnetic
compatibility (EMC), and the EMC information
contained in this manual must be
strictly adhered to during installation and
operation. It is especially important not
to use the device near fluorescent lamps,
radio transmitters or remote controls,
portable or mobile radio frequency communications
equipment.
