Faulty connection between the
lip clip cable and the unit.
Defective lip clip cable.
Lip clip and contra-angle file
or lip clip and separate file clip
connected too fast or incorrectly.
• Contra-angle not functioning correctly.
• Check whether the lip clip cable is
inserted incorrectly or whether it is
twisted or defective.
• Clean the lip clip.
• Check whether the measuring file
has been correctly inserted into the
contra-angle.
• Check whether the contra-angle
works.
• Repeat the activation process
and wait until the message
“APEX LOCATOR ON” appears.
• Alternatively, repeat the activation
with the lip clip and file in the file clip,
and wait until the message “APEX
LOCATOR ON” appears.
APEX LOCATOR IS
OVERSENSITIVE – i.e.,
it displays the apex too
quickly or indicates too
short a working length.
• Short-circuit due to excess
fluid in the pulp chamber
(rinsing solution, saliva, blood).
• Direct contact between file
and gingiva/ gingival proliferation,
i.e. in cases with fractured
metal crowns.
• Direct contact between file
and metal restoration work
(crowns, parapulpal pins,
amalgam fillings).
• Lateral root canal.
• Immature canal with large
apex.
• Dry the access cavity using an air
blower or a cotton ball.
• If heavy bleeding is present, wait
until bleeding has been successfully
stopped.
• For isolation:
- Adequate tooth build-up
- Electrocauterisation
• Insert a dental dam.
• Use the protective silicon cover on
the contra-angle.
• Carefully widen the access cavity;
add flow composites for isolation
purposes if necessary.
• Repeat length determination
process.
• Precise results not possible.
