Problem Possible Cause Solution
THE BATTERY IS NOT
WORKING PROPERLY
• Despite observance of all
precautionary measures, the
battery discharges too quickly.
• The device only works if the
charger is plugged into the
power supply – however not in
battery mode.
The battery could be damaged.
Send the device to your service centre.

CALIBRATION ERROR 1
An incorrectly-connected
micromotor could disrupt the
calibration process.
Check whether the micromotor is
correctly connected.
CALIBRATION ERROR 2
A VDW 6:1 contra-angle with
excessive resistance can cause
the calibration process to abort.
• Check whether the contra-angle is
malfunctioning.
• Determine whether your contraangle
care and maintenance routines
are correct.
• To rule out the possibility of the
motor being defective, recalibrate the
motor without the contra-angle.
Rotary File
Blocked in Canal
• Incorrect file settings.
• Too much pressure on the
instrument.
Switch to “backwards” ASR mode
(red LED), restart the motor and carefully
pull the file out.
Reciprocating File
Blocked in Canal
• Too much pressure on the
instrument.
• File not cleaned often enough
(see details in the RECIPROC ®
user‘s manual).
Remove the file using a pair of pliers
by pulling it and carefully twisting it
clockwise.
The display reads
APEX LOCATOR
ERROR 3
Apex locator cannot be switched
on due to a malfunction.
• Check whether the lip clip and/or file
clip cables are inserted incorrectly or
damaged.
• Check whether you have accidentally
connected the file in the contra-angle
to the file clip instead of the lip clip.
• Check whether the original VDW 6:1
contra-angle is being used.
• Check whether the new lip clip cable
(included in your RECIPROC ® Upgrade
Kit) and the original charger (both
equipped with a ferrite ring) are being
used.
