sweet pepper and garlic. All of these commodities
rose in volume except potato, off 16%, onion, down
38%, and garlic, off 22%.
The items leading Turkey’s exports were dried tomato
and pulses, especially the 5,300 tons of broad beans
and 1,300 of lentils. Compared to a year ago, Turkey’s
onion and carrot imports declined while its fresh
mushroom volume rose. The main vegetable exports
from Morocco were the 4,000 tons of tomato and 35
tons of green bean.
Exports, sweet pepper tops the list
Almost all the volumes of the main commodities were
down except for sweet pepper, which quadrupled its
volume, and lettuce. The items that were off the most
included tomato, spring potato, radicchio, carrot,
cauliflower and broccoli, although a surge in prices
help to offset the loss in receipts (tab. 6). The commodities
that had the biggest price upswings were
cauliflower, broccoli, leafy greens like lettuce, salads
and radicchio, and fennel, the latter also posting a rise
in receipts at equal volume. In the export column,
Italy’s vegetable supplies to traditional partners
Germany, Switzerland, the UK, Slovenia, Poland,
Belgium and Denmark were down. By contrast,
exports to the Netherlands were up in both volume
and receipts (tab. 8), whereas those to France and
Austria were down in volume but up in sales.

importazioni di cipolle e carote mentre sono aumentate
quelle di funghi freschi. Dal Marocco, infine,
sono giunti in Italia pomodori (4mila tonnellate) e
fagiolini (350 tonnellate).
Export, si salvano i peperoni
Sul fronte dell’export, la contrazione delle spedizioni
ha interessato tutti i principali prodotti ad eccezione
dei peperoni, che hanno quadruplicato i volumi
esportati, e delle insalate. La diminuzione dei volumi
spediti è stata particolarmente consistente per pomodori,
patate di primizia, radicchi, carote, cavolfiori e
broccoli anche se sulla base di prezzi in forte aumento
e ciò ha consentito di compensare parzialmente la
riduzione degli introiti (tab. 6). I maggiori incrementi
dei listini sono stati riscontrati per cavolfiori e broccoli
e per le verdure a foglia (lattughe, insalate e radicchi)
e i finocchi. Per questi ultimi si è verificato
l’incremento dei ricavi a parità di volumi esportati. Le
esportazioni hanno segnato una battuta d’arresto in
molti dei nostri principali mercati di sbocco
(Germania, Svizzera, Regno Unito, Slovenia, Polonia,
Belgio e Danimarca). Bene invece le esportazioni
verso i Paesi Bassi con incrementi sia in quantità, sia
dei relativi ricavi (tab. 8). Le esportazioni verso Francia
ed Austria si sono ridotte in termini di volume, ma
sono aumentate in valore.
