A new market of great potential
The smoothies market is a young and
promising one which rings up large
sales volumes. For example, in the U.S.
between 2001 and 2006 there was an
80% increase in the sales of these products
and forecasts speak of an annual
growth of 10-13% until 2013.
Smoothies first came on to the Italian
market at the end of 2008. If monthly
sales in September 2008 only amounted
to 8 tons, by the following year they
had passed the 187 ton mark. According
to Barilla figures, the market for
smoothies in Italy reached the 1,670
tonnes in 2009 for a value of 13-14 mil-
to create added value in the vegetable sector through
offering a product which is high in service content,”
explains the Parma group’s headquarters which
invested 36 million euros in research and the development
of products and processes in 2008.
On sales targets and marketing they prefer to keep
mum, but they do admit that the first step is to get
Fantasie del Sole into hypermarkets and supermarkets
throughout Italy. Barilla has supported the launch with
a multimedia advertising campaign (print, and internet
too thanks to the launch of a tailor-made site,
www.fantasiedelsole.it), a series of in-store promotions
and brand activation activities directed at consumers in
the major Italian cities. A range of activities that is rendered
necessary by the need not only to draw attention
to the launching of the Fantasie del Sole range, but also
to introduce consumers the characteristics of this
range which represents a step forward with respect to
vegetable conserves and approaches the world of
ready meals and semi-processed products.
You can enjoy the four products in the range alone, or
use them as a complement for a first or second course
dish, or use them to prepare a quick appetizer. The
aubergines, zucchini, mushrooms and peppers come
already cut into pieces, steamed and cooked according
to a recipe, with the addition of nuts or tomatoes.
Packed in 220 gram trays which preserve their
organoleptic properties, sold at a launch price of 2.49
euros, they can be prepared for the table in a
microwave or in a pan in a matter of seconds.
In addition to the service content represented by having
at your disposal 100% natural vegetables already
cleaned and cut with a long shelf-life, there is also a
lion euros. 84% of households (approximately
18.5 million people) buy fruit
drinks with an average consumption of
27 litres a year, higher in the case of
young families with children, and 14.7
million people buy fruit nectars, for
which the average per capita consumption
is 14.3 litres. (L.S.)
Quello degli smoothies è un mercato giovane
e promettente che sviluppa volumi di
vendita importanti.
a 187 tonnellate. Secondo le elaborazioni
Barilla, nel 2009 il mercato degli
smoothies ha raggiunto in Italia le 1.670
tonnellate per un controvalore di 13-14
milioni di euro. L’84% delle famiglie (pari
a circa 18,5 milioni) acquista bevande alla
frutta per un consumo medio di 27
litri/anno, più concentrato nella famiglie
giovani e con bambini, e 14,7 milioni
acquista nettari di frutta il cui consumo
medio pro capite è di 14,3 litri.
mercato.
Confezionate
pochi secondi.
Al contenuto di servizio rappresentato dall’avere
sempre a disposizioni dei vegetali 100% naturali già
