NEWS IFA NEXT Innovation Engine Brings Ideas to the Stage The IFA NEXT Innovation Engine, in the center of Hall 26, complements a new and dynamic exhibition area with a quality programme of lectures, panel discussions, and presentations. It’s all part of IFA providing, for the first time in 2017 a unique and even larger stage for innovation. Together, startups, research laboratories, universities, and companies form IFA NEXT, the evolution of the previous IFA TecWatch innovation format. Technologies for the future indeed raise many questions, and the IFA NEXT Innovation Engine brings them to the stage. Qualified specialist presentations and panel discussions are taking place each day in this new, completely open setting. The Innovation Engine creates the perfect setting for technical backgrounds, pointed opinions, and prominent voices from politics and industry. IFA NEXT STARTUP DAYS – SIX STARTUP-THEMED DAYS WITH PRESENTATIONS, PANEL DISCUSSIONS, AND PITCHES From Friday, 1 September to Wednesday, 6 September, 20 young founders from different fields will exhibit in the IFA NEXT Hall on each of the six theme days. The startups will also debate one relevant issue every afternoon in the IFA NEXT Innovation Engine. Here, startups will pitch to IFA visitors, journalists, experts, decision-makers from trade and industry, and to potential investors. NEWS droidcon Berlin 2017 - IFA debut for Android Developer Conference Since the first droidcon conference in Berlin in 2009, the “movement” has spread over 20 countries across 4 continents, and this year, for the first time, the organisers are teaming with Messe Berlin for their flagship event of the year. droidcon is a leading independent platform for Android developers. droidcon conferences give software developers an opportunity to exchange knowledge on this mobile operating system at the highest technological level. Accordingly, 90% of the conference attendees are software developers. From 3 to 5 September, around 1,000 software developers and experts are expected to attend the conference to discuss technical aspects and innovations of the operating system and its applications. Sessions will include “How to Build for Voice: Foundations, and Why Mobile Developers are Already One Step Ahead” - a hands-on workshop @droidcon (04.09.2017, 2pm – 4pm), to learn the foundational pillars of voice design, how voice differs from mobile, and how to build a simple voice-enabled experience from the ground up leveraging the Alexa Skills Kit (ASK).
