I SPECIAL FEATURE I IFA NEXT I ADVERTORIAL Korean innovation in the spotlight at IFA 2023 Korea’s small and medium enterprises (SMEs) have been active participants in IFA Berlin since 2003 through the Korea Pavilion. Up until last year, the pavilion was located in the IFA Global Markets section, before making the move to IFA Next and focusing on presenting Korean startups. Continuing with this strategy, at this year’s event the Korea Pavilion is presenting twelve carefully selected startups that have shown exceptional potential in the fields of digital health, artificial intelligence, IoT, VR/AR/MR, and smart living. Pavilion offers a unique opportunity to experience cutting-edge Korean innovation and get a taste of what the Korean technology of tomorrow will look like. The Korea Pavilion is sponsored by the Korean Ministry of SMEs and Startups (MSS) and co-organized by the Korea Federation of SMEs (KBIZ) and the Korea Electronics Association (KEA). As leading economic organisations in Korea, KBIZ and KEA intend to continue to provide their members with opportunities to exchange creative ideas with international partners. Ltd. with their cordless steam mop cleaner, Linkface Co., with wearable devices based on bio-signal sensors, Braintech with their in-vitro diagnostic chemical analyser, Becon’s anti hair loss solution, Bitsensing’s driving solution based on radar technology, Shin Dong-A ES with their smart switch based on voice recognition, SMT’s IoT shower care solution, NdotLight’s video information security technology, Eoneoms’ web-based 3D design tool, KMSPartner’s mini beam projector, and Prinker Korea with their digital temporary tattoo device. I REGIONAL SPOTLIGHT I KOREA I ADVERTORIAL The LG Smart Cottage: Inspiring sustainable living at IFA 2023 LG Electronics is introducing the LG Smart Cottage at IFA this year, a compact, prefabricated house incorporating LG’s cutting-edge heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) and energy solutions, as well as its newest smart home appliances and services. LG Smart Cottage With the Smart Cottage, LG aims to promote sustainability through their vision of a Better Life for All. The Smart Cottage features a two-story, studiostyle layout that provides a functional, convenient living environment and maximum space efficiency. Not only can this modular home be easily transported to different locations, it also has replaceable module components made from low-carbon steel materials. The LG Smart Cottage is furnished with innovative, high-efficiency appliances such as the WashTower Compact, InstaView Oven, QuadWash dishwasher, various built-in kitchen appliances, a water purifier and the Therma V Monobloc air-to-water heat pump. All appliances within the house connect seamlessly with LG ThinQ, which means users can effortlessly control each appliance, manage the entire HVAC system and monitor energy storage and consumption in real time through the LG ThinQ app. On its roof, the Smart Cottage has 4-kilowatt solar panels which connect with LG’s Energy Storage System to generate as much as 15 kilowatts of electricity per day, enough power for up to two occupants. Additionally, LG’s modular house boasts a built-in electric vehicle (EV) charger.
