Hall 24 Experience The Future at IFA 2009 TecWatch Gives Ideas and solutions for the media, communication, ease of operation and the lifestyle of tomorrow. This year again at IFA, TecWatch will present exciting prospects for new markets in Hall 5.3. Television and web technologies are converging to form new, interactive media, with screens presenting t h r e e - d i m e n s i o n a l entertainment and information. TecWatch exhibits are divided into five theme categories: • Easy Living With products and services ranging from an automated household, eco-friendly home appliances, a mobile car sharing centre, to navigational aids for the blind, exhibitors will be showing how in future sophisticated technology will make people’s lives easier, more comfortable, safer and more healthy. • Personal Home Are broadcasting networks determining our media consumption habits? In future we will no longer accept this lack of choice. New, interactive media concepts will offer personalised content – be it in the living room, on the move, on large TV screens or portable, pocket-sized electronic devices. • Innovative Audio What follows when analogue radio goes? There are a number of alternative technical developments offering themselves as the sequel to traditional radio, and there are modern networking solutions waiting to play music and voice content in the entire house. TecWatch has the bigger picture. • Smart interfaces The consumer electronics and telecommunication products of tomorrow will no longer need keys and buttons. Future generations of devices will react to voice commands and gesturing. Screens will also become more and more adapted to human requirements. They will be able to display a third dimension, just as our natural ability to observe things expects. • Theseus This is the name of a research project sponsored by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology whose aim is to make all digital knowledge on the internet accessible in easier and more efficient ways. TecWatch is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. for the entire duration of the fair. l Hall 5.3 IFA International • Monday, 31st August 2009 www.ifa-international.org 9
