TRADE NEWS Expert intensifies partnership with IFA From left to right: Dr. Christian Göke,COO Messe Berlin,Dr. Rainer Hecker, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Gfu, Volker Müller Chairman of the executive board of expert AG and Hans-Joachim Kamp, Chairman of the Consumer Electronics Trade Association in the ZVEI. Expert, the trade cooperation representing internationally active, specialist dealers, and the gfu, which organises the IFA, have announced they intend to intensify their long-standing partnership at the IFA 2007. For many years, expert has proven itself to be a reliable partner of the world’s most important consumer electronics trade show. The expansion of this ongoing collaboration takes place against the background of the continued development of the IFA concept, one aspect of which involves the strategic integration of the international specialist dealers’ cooperations. This will help ensure that the IFA is the common, professional platform for the worldwide consumer electronics sector, as well as an exhibition and convention venue, where the trade can meet and place orders. Explaining this more intensive partnership, Volker Müller, Chairman of the Board of expert AG said, “We have been attending the IFA in Berlin for many years, and are therefore ADB Teams up with Grundig to Bring Full Range of Digital Terrestrial Products to the European Market Advanced Digital Broadcast, a leading supplier of digital TV systems and software solutions for interactive television announced today that it has been selected by Grundig to enter into a partnership to supply set-top box (STB) technology to the digital terrestrial television market throughout Europe. As part of the agreement, ADB will supply Grundig’ with high definition (HD) STBs, HD digital video recorders (DVRs) and HD iDTV modules for distribution across Europe to meet the growing needs of digital terrestrial television roll-out. particularly pleased that the organisers of this event have placed a greater emphasis on international dealers. It is consequently a logical step for us to consolidate our collaboration with gfu and Messe Berlin.“ The presentation being staged by expert for its dealers at the IFA 2007 continues what has already proven to be a successful concept, with its own stand as “We are delighted to reach this agreement with Grundig”, commented Philippe Lambinet, CEO of ADB. “We feel that the digital terrestrial market is growing strongly throughout Europe and are very happy to partner with Grundig who offer a very strong branding proposition as well as multiple routes to market”. The first range of products will be deployed towards the second half of 2007. The first unit to launch will be the ADB-3800T and this will be followed up with an upgraded, featurerich unit the ADB-3810T towards the end of the year. a central meeting place and communications platform. In association with Messe Berlin, expert can provide dealers from home and abroad with specially designed packages for trade visitors to the IFA. In addition expert AG is actively involved in the concept of the International Trade Visitors’ Centre and in various IFA Discussion Forums. “Profit for Service Professionals“ serviceforum@IFA for 2nd time Traditional specialist dealers, discounters, full-range stockists or other outlets alike – every supplier knows that they cannot afford to have dissatisfied customers. But service structures are changing, presenting new challenges each day to dealers and the industry. It is for this reason that the serviceforum@IFA will be taking place for the second time on 2 September during the IFA 2007. It takes the form of a panel and is aimed primarily at decision-makers from the ranks of specialist dealers and the craft trades, as well as at the representatives of industry and the media. The serviceforum@IFA is being organised in its established form by various industry associations: Bundesverband Technik des Einzelhandels, BVT, Zentralverband der Deutschen Elektro- und Informationstechnischen Handwerke, ZVEH, and Zentralverband der Elektrotechnik- und Elektronikindustrie, ZVEI. Support is being provided by Messe Berlin and Gesellschaft für Unterhaltungs- und Kommunikationselektronik, gfu. In order to put “Profit for Service Professionals” into practice answers are required to numerous questions: What does the future hold for the worlds of products and services? What distinguishes service from services? Do areas of business such as Triple Play provide opportunities for new services? What role is played in the value added process by contractual commissions, content, installation and equipment sales? Answers will be provided at the serviceforum@IFA by leading representatives from trade and industry. The round table discussions will take place on Sunday, 2 September 2007, from 11 a.m. to 12 noon in Hall 26, Web2.0-BlogHouse, Berlin Exhibition Grounds.
