RESUMO
Este trabalho apresenta um estudo da origem do significado moral das ações
humanas, no âmbito da filosofia de Arthur Schopenhauer. Inicialmente expõe o contexto
histórico vivido por este filósofo. Em seguida, parte para fundamentação da moral em Arthur
Schopenhauer, que assenta no enunciado Tat Tvam Asi, tendo como motivação moral o
fenômeno da compaixão. O mistério da compaixão, parte final deste trabalho, é apresentado
como a chave para o entendimento do significado moral da ação humana, segundo a
concepção de Arthur Schopenhauer.

ABSTRACT
This work presents a study on the source of the moral meaning of human actions in the
framework of Arthur Schopenhauer’s philosophy. Initially the historical context experienced
by this philosopher is expounded. In what follows, the philosophical foundation of
Schopenhauer’s morals is considered. Such a foundation is based on the statement Tat Tvam
Asi and has, as its moral motivation, the phenomenon of compassion. The mystery of
compassion, subject of the final part of this work, is presented as the key for understanding
the moral meaning of human action, in conformity with Schopenhauer’s conception.
