RESUMO<br />
Este trabalho apresenta um estudo <strong>da</strong> origem do significado moral <strong>da</strong>s ações<br />
huma<strong>na</strong>s, no âmbito <strong>da</strong> filosofia <strong>de</strong> Arthur Schopenhauer. Inicialmente expõe o contexto<br />
histórico vivido por este filósofo. Em segui<strong>da</strong>, parte para fun<strong>da</strong>mentação <strong>da</strong> moral em Arthur<br />
Schopenhauer, que assenta no enunciado Tat Tvam Asi, tendo como motivação moral o<br />
fenômeno <strong>da</strong> compaixão. O mistério <strong>da</strong> compaixão, parte fi<strong>na</strong>l <strong>de</strong>ste trabalho, é apresentado<br />
como a chave para o entendimento do significado moral <strong>da</strong> ação huma<strong>na</strong>, segundo a<br />
concepção <strong>de</strong> Arthur Schopenhauer.<br />

ABSTRACT<br />
This work presents a study on the source of the moral meaning of human actions in the<br />
framework of Arthur Schopenhauer’s philosophy. Initially the historical context experienced<br />
by this philosopher is expoun<strong>de</strong>d. In what follows, the philosophical foun<strong>da</strong>tion of<br />
Schopenhauer’s morals is consi<strong>de</strong>red. Such a foun<strong>da</strong>tion is based on the statement Tat Tvam<br />
Asi and has, as its moral motivation, the phenomenon of compassion. The mystery of<br />
compassion, subject of the fi<strong>na</strong>l part of this work, is presented as the key for un<strong>de</strong>rstanding<br />
the moral meaning of human action, in conformity with Schopenhauer’s conception.<br />
