WORLD WAR II AND <strong>THE</strong> GREAT PATRIOTIC WAR<br />

SUMMARY<br />

During the World War II and the Great Patriotic War, being a<br />

border area of the Soviet Union, and in the context of military-political<br />

situation of the international post-war years and the "Cold War", Soviet<br />

Armenia had an important place in the "Soviet military preparations."<br />

The Armenian question had been involved in the sphere of the Soviet-<br />

Turkish, but in a broader sense, in the scope of the confrontation<br />

between the Soviet Union and the West. In this context - the return to<br />

Soviet Armenia of the territories annexed by Turkey by the Moscow<br />

and Kars Treaties in 1921.<br />

On the eve of the Great Patriotic War the Soviet Union saw<br />

Turkey as a potential enemy and had certain plans on it. The
