My Dear Gudrun
Just a little note to let you see I am thinking of you and little Egbert. I always
think of you all. It just seems having little Egbert has brought so much love. It is a
great pity we are so far apart but some day I hope to see you all again. Things have
improved this year for the farmers and I look forward now to be able to take my trip in
two years time if all is well. You know it is nice to have something to look forward to
it keeps you up. I know that I must keep interested or go under and become a sad
wreck but the harder my loss and sorrow the harder I try to keep bright. Wont it be
lovely when I come to Norway I can talk to little Egbert.
Please give Berger and your Mother my love and remember me to Ingrid,
Ahlert when you write not to forget dear little Thomas.
I have sent Egbert a small present for his birthday £ 5-. – if you wish it can be
put into his bank account I sent it to Uncle Alf because it was the least trouble and he
will let you know as soon as it reaches the Kristiania post office. I am very sorry it has
come a little late but you see I have such a bad memory.

Please thank Egbert for his nice letter and photo tell him how pleased I was to receive
a letter and to see what a big boy he has grown to.
