engl. ⁄ Since 1991 Daniela pfefferkorn has been
managing the fortunes of the traditional hotel
Goldener Berg in oberlech. While doing so she lets
herself be guided by good energies, her love for nature
and hospitality. Small wonder the hotelier may
sometimes go into raptures – and it’s not an act.
L.L. ⁄ The Goldener Berg has a long standing history. What was
your motivation to join your parents’ business?
d.p. ⁄ The Goldener Berg was an old farmhouse which was first used
in 1432. At the beginning of the 20th century, the first German skiers
came here and in the 1930s the building became a hotel which was
then bought by my grandfather in 1965. Initially, I did not join the
business on my own accord. My father had quite an influence on my
decision back then but today I am very happy about that!
L.L. ⁄ It certainly meant that you work where others go on holiday.
Do you feel that is a privilege?
d.p. ⁄ Definitely. every morning when my dog and I walk up the
mountain, when I observe the panoramic view, I am simply thankful
for being here. It really means a lot to me.
L.L. ⁄ In your opinion – how well is the topic of sustainability
handled in Lech?
d.p. ⁄ I think that Lech – contrary to other skiing resorts – has done
many things right in the past century. It’s obvious that all of us really
care about conserving our wonderful nature. of course there is always
progress but we try to integrate new buildings into the landscape and
really do things to protect the environment instead of destroying it.
L.L. ⁄ In your private as well as in your professional life you always
try different paths – even spiritual ones. What do they look like?
d.p. ⁄ Fortunately I found great teachers who showed me how to go
through life more easily, more peacefully and happily. And because
I appreciated this so much I wanted to help other people by offering
the same opportunities. Meanwhile I know a great number of good
trainers and therapists who come to Lech in summer and offer great
seminars and healings.
