engl. ⁄ Lorraine Huber from Lech is freeride-coach,
skiing guide and pro-freeskier. Small wonder,
considering the fact that she basically grew up on
or at least by the Arlberg’s great pistes! She knows
the best lines in the world but it’s her hometown’s
freeride slopes that still get her into raptures …
“Life begins at the end of your Comfort Zone”. This saying by her
favourite author Neale Donald Walsch characterizes Lorraine
Huber’s attitude towards life: Success is a result of the willingness
to go down new paths. After a summer of training in Argentina,
the freeskier is looking forward to the long freeride-lines in Zürs,
around the omeshorn for example: “Trittkopf-Gondola is perfect
for a 1,000 altitude-metre run that includes several cliff-drops and
lines you can check out while still on the gondola. Seekopf and
Muggengrat offer shorter and more diverting lines where you can go
on laps, and the Trittkopf-Nadel area is very beautiful too” is how
the young local describes her favourite spots. Safety, of course, is
number one priority here, something Lorraine also communicates
at her Women’s Freeride & Yoga Camps. “During freeriding I
completely live in the here and now, the only thing I think about is
the next turn. That’s my kind of freedom – and it’s no contradiction
to safety!” The young athlete’s next goal: to use this winter’s Freeride
World Qualifier-events to qualify for the 2014 Freeride World
Tour. And even if the wide world is always a temptation: “I think
next summer I’m going to stay at home in Lech, it simply is too
