L.L. ⁄ How do you manage to always stay hospitable – is there a
secret recipe?
d.p. ⁄ I think that has to be a certain attitude to life. If one does
not like people or is afraid of them it’s not going to work out. Here
in Lech the situation is special, firstly because hospitality is part
of our Austrian mentality and we simply like to serve. Secondly we
all have small family run enterprises and we can accept our guests
into this small family. This has always been a great concern for us.
L.L. ⁄ Are the guests interested in their hosts’ culture? Most hotels
here are family run.
d.p. ⁄ our guests love that! of course some of them are surprised
when they are being cared for on such a personal level. But in general
people come here because they can find a piece of home here.
L.L. ⁄ Lech is surrounded by idyllic nature – do you see this nature
as a capital that needs conserving?
d.p. ⁄ Definitely. It’s our biggest capital, this amazing landscape
and the nature people profit so much from. There are such good
vibrations here and great energy. Thankfully our ancestors already
understood the need to conserve nature and luckily they did not
make any grave mistakes.
L.L. ⁄ Now one last question on acting: How come you took it up?
d.p. ⁄ I’ve always had a passion for acting and on my 30th birthday
I decided to go to Los Angeles for acting lessons. That really was
lots of fun and there was talent too but soon I got drawn back home.
Here I got involved in film projects in Tirol and Vorarlberg and I
even got to act in some of them, the last one was “Nanga parbat”.
What a perfect topic for me! It was really exciting and it’s good fun
to take the plunge and go do something else for a change!
