Mainfrankens Charme und Attraktivität sind zeitlos. Aber das
Wirtschaftsleben und die Wirtschaftsthemen verändern sich
– und das durchaus immer schneller. Diese Transformation
in der Wirtschaft wirkt sich auf unsere gesamte Gesellschaft
und damit auch auf unsere Region aus. Wir haben deshalb die
Entwick lungen der letzten Jahre zum Anlass genommen, die
Mono graphie Mainfranken neu aufzulegen. Denn die Weiterentwicklung
der Wirtschaftsregion ist Kernanliegen und Aufgabe
der IHK. Vor diesem Hintergrund versteht sich auch
die vorliegende siebte Auflage unseres Buches als aktualisierte
Moment aufnahme eines Rundumblickes auf den Standort.
Der Anpassungsdruck in der mainfränkischen Wirtschaft –
ausgelöst durch die zurückliegende Pandemie, die geopolitisch
veränderte Lage, den Ausbau der Digitalisierung und den Eintritt
von KI in den Alltag – aber auch die Entwicklungs schübe
und Innovationskraft in der Region, nicht zuletzt befördert
durch die Auswirkungen des allgemeinen Fachkräftemangels,
sind prägende Faktoren der Zeit. Trotz zurückliegender Krisen
haben sich nicht wenige Unternehmen rasant weiterentwickelt
und sind zu neuen „Hidden Champions“ herangewachsen, die
den europäischen, wenn nicht sogar den Weltmarkt mitprägen.
Und dennoch sind viele neue mittelständische Firmen entstanden,
die die Innovationskraft der Region repräsentieren.
Die typisch fränkische Landschaft lädt also nicht nur Touristen
zum Verweilen ein, sondern auch Unternehmen und Investoren.
Mainfranken ist eine attraktive Karriere- und Innovationsregion,
in der es sich zudem gut leben lässt. Die Region bietet
eine gute soziale Infrastruktur und einen hohen Umwelt-, Freizeit-
und Erlebniswert: also beste berufliche Perspektiven in
einem attraktiven Wohnumfeld.
All diese Themen haben Autoren aus der regionalen Wirtschaft,
Wissenschaft, Kultur und Gesellschaft in übersichtlichen Beiträgen
auf den aktuellen Stand gebracht. Ich wünsche Ihnen
eine informative und gleichermaßen anregende Lektüre! Denn
schließlich steht hinter der Neuauflage dieser Monographie
auch der Gedanke, die Attraktivität des Standortes Mainfranken
nicht nur neu zu dokumentieren, sondern fortzuentwickeln.

Main Franconia’s charm and appeal are timeless. But economic
life and economic issues are changing – and at a constantly faster
pace. This transformation in the economy impacts our entire
society and therefore our region too. We have therefore taken
the developments of recent years as an opportunity to relaunch
the Main Franconia monograph. After all, the prosperous
development of this economic region is the key interest and
main task of the Chamber of Industry and Commerce. Against
this backdrop, this seventh edition of our book is also intended
as an updated snapshot of an in-depth look at the location.
This period in the Main Franconian economy is heavily characterised
by the pressure to adapt to changing circumstances,
trig gered by the recent pandemic, the changing geopolitical
situation, the expansion of digitalisation and introduction of
AI into everyday life, but also the development spurts and innovative
strength in the region, not least fuelled by the effects of
the general shortage of skilled workers. Despite past crises, quite
a few companies have devel oped rapidly and grown into new
hidden champions that are shaping the European, if not the
global, market. And many new medium-sized companies have
also emerged, which are having a new impact on the region’s
innovative strength. The beautiful Franconian landscape is
therefore drawing not only tourists for the region, but also companies
and investors. Main Franconia is an attractive region for
careers and innovation, where it is also easy to enjoy the good
life. The region offers a good social infrastructure, in addition
to high degree environmental standards and recreational offers,
in other words, the best career prospects in an attractive living
environment.
Authors from the regional economy, the scientific sector, the
cultural field, and society have provided an update on all these
topics in clear and easily readable articles. I wish you an informative
and interesting read! After all, the idea behind the new
issue of this monograph is not only to once again document the
attractiveness of the Main Franconia region, but also to develop
it further.
