Congratulations. All of those coproduction partners have signed their contracts
and your project has been greenlit! If you are lucky you may already
have a working relationship with one of your executive producers – but
that doesn’t mean you can relax, because now there’s three more! you are
about to enter into a short-term, multi-partner marriage. There will be big
expectations, altercations and – no doubt many alterations as your production
takes shape. Tears are not uncommon. But don’t despair, our panelists
have been through the coproduction trials and survived. Our Documentary
Campus Masterschool participants will talk about their experiences and offer
up some invaluable ‘copro counselling’.

Crowdfunding – Money from Strangers
‘Crowdfunding’ was successfully pioneered by two French filmmakers in
2004. In the 8 years since, it has taken off as a viable way to raise finance
directly from the audience without the need to approach funding agencies
or broadcasters. But despite following the basic principles of traditional
fundraising, ‘crowdfunding’ has a few very distinct traits. This panel will
take a look at those differences. We’ll explore the many websites that offer
direct portals to the pockets that can fund your project. Experts will share
their essential tips for success and help you decide if the ‘crowdfunding’
alternative is right for your next project.

Masterschool: Italy, Love it or Leave it
Filmmakers Gustav Hofer and Luca Ragazzi developed ITALy, LOVE IT OR
LEAVE IT within the Documentary Campus Masterschool in 2010. A year
later the film premiered at the Milan International Film Festival winning the
Audience and Best Feature awards. It’s a road movie – a docu trip to the
heart of a country that Gustav and Luca need to reacquaint themselves with
before making a very important decision – to love it or leave it. Join Gustav
Hofer behind the wheel for a journey behind the scenes as he takes us
through the production process from the original idea to the nerve-wracking
final pitch and beyond.
