Vol spécial Special Flight
„Sie haben die Wahl“, sagt der Direktor zu einem Häftling. „Wenn Sie nicht
mit einem regulären Flug gehen, wird’s ein ‚Vol spécial‘“. Frambois heißt
der Abschiebeknast bei Genf. Sans-papiers und abgewiesene Asylsuchende
warten hier auf ihren Flug. Die Alternative ist keine; der Sonderflug bedeutet,
dass man das Land gefesselt und geknebelt in Handschellen verlässt.
Derweilen geht der Alltag im Gefängnis weiter. Der Kamera gelingen stille,
respektvoll beobachtend starke Bilder vom Unerträglichen und Zermürbenden
– für Inhaftierte wie für ihre Aufseher. In LA FORTERESSE (2008),
Melgars letztem Film, war der Schauplatz ein Empfangszentrum für Asylbewerber.
Nun folgt – für viele nach Jahrzehnten im Land – das Ende aller
Hoffnungen auf ein besseres, sicheres Leben in der Schweiz. Silvia Bauer

want to go on a regular flight, it will be a ‘special flight’.” Frambois is Geneva’s
detention centre and this is where Sans-papiers and failed asylum
seekers wait for their flights. There is no alternative; a ‘special flight’ means
that they leave the country handcuffed and gagged. Meanwhile everyday life
in the detention centre goes on. The camera captures quiet, respectful and
strong observational images of the insufferable and the gruelling – for the
inmates as well as for their wardens. LA FORTERESSE (2008), Melgar’s previous
film, was set in a reception centre for asylum seekers. What follows
here is what many have experienced over the decades in this land – the end
of all hope for a better, more secure life in Switzerland. Silvia Bauer

„Später werde ich mal Jockey, dann habe ich ein richtiges Rennpferd.“ –
Vermutlich wird der Traum des zehnjährigen Ricardo nie in Erfüllung gehen.
Er ist „Cartonero“ und zieht mit seinen Freunden Bebo und Pata im Pferdekarren
durch die wohlhabenden Viertel von Córdoba. Sie sammeln Müll,
um ihn bei einer Recyclingstelle zu Geld zu machen. Während sie auf dem
Kutschbock sitzen, fachsimpeln sie über die richtige Art des Pferdelenkens
und schmieden Pläne für die Zukunft. Vergeblich versucht die Schwester
von Ricardo, ihn zum Schulbesuch zu überreden. Er will weiter träumen
können, während das Pferd den unverwechselbaren Takt der Straße dazu
schlägt. In nahen und intensiven Szenen erzählt yATASTO behutsam vom
Leben in Armut. Dunja Bialas
“When I grow up I am going to be a jockey. Then I’ll have a proper
racehorse.” – In all likelihood ten-year-old Ricardo’s dream will never come
true. He is a “cartonero” and trundles around in a horse drawn carriage
with his friends Bebo and Pata through the wealthy areas of Córdoba. They
collect rubbish and trade it in for money at a recycling centre. Sitting in
the cart they talk shop, discuss the proper way to control a horse and make
plans for the future. Ricardo’s sister tries in vain to convince him to go to
school but he just wants to be able to carry on dreaming while the horse’s
hooves hit the street with their distinctive beat. With close and intense
scenes, yATASTO is a tender account of a life in poverty. Dunja Bialas
