XXII. Working Conditions <strong>of</strong> Pre-K Employees<br />

12. Employees shall not be required to take the place <strong>of</strong> a secretary in the<br />

performance <strong>of</strong> the secretary’s regular duties.<br />

13. College students assigned to schools or centers as part <strong>of</strong> their course<br />

work shall not be used as substitutes.<br />

14. A female employee shall not be required to remain in any work location<br />

when no other employee is not so located as to hear or see what is going on in<br />

the female employee’s work location.<br />

15. All staff meetings are to be held on work time. Two (2) staff meetings a<br />

month may be extended by a maximum <strong>of</strong> thirty (30) minutes each beyond<br />

work time.<br />

16. The Office <strong>of</strong> Early Childhood will assume the responsibility for writing<br />

and disseminating program-wide information that has to go to parents.<br />

17. Except in case <strong>of</strong> emergency, which cannot be avoided and except for a<br />

meeting to be held during the first four (4) weeks <strong>of</strong> the school year, at least two<br />

(2) weeks notice shall be given <strong>of</strong> any staff meeting extending beyond school<br />

time.<br />

18. Assistants are not to float.<br />

19. Except for such classification whose duties and responsibilities require<br />

them to work elsewhere, employees during the regular hours <strong>of</strong> work shall not<br />

be required to perform any work in other than premises owned or operated by<br />

the <strong>School</strong> <strong>District</strong>.<br />

20. Employees shall not be required to take the place <strong>of</strong> a secretary in the<br />

performance <strong>of</strong> the secretary’s regular duties.<br />

21. No supervisor shall ask a non-clerical employee to do the supervisor’s<br />

paper work for him/her.<br />

D. Support Services, Facilities and Supplies<br />

1. Effective extermination services shall be provided in the schools and/or<br />

centers.<br />

2. Playground space provided in the school and/or center lease shall be clean<br />

and safe.<br />

3. In accordance with the <strong>School</strong> <strong>District</strong>’s procedure, children with communicable<br />

diseases shall be isolated from employees and other children in the<br />

school or center.<br />

4. When space is available, Pre-K employees shall be provided adequate<br />

lounge and eating facilities.<br />

5. Adult sanitary facilities shall be easily available to all employees at each<br />

school or center wherever space permits.<br />

6. All schools or centers shall be provided with heat and hot and cold water<br />

including drinking water.<br />

7. When heat and air conditioning is available in the leased space, it shall<br />

remain in operation until the end <strong>of</strong> the workday.<br />
