XXII. Working Conditions <strong>of</strong> Pre-K Employees<br />

8. Each employee shall have a mailbox and, where facilities permit, a locker.<br />

Also, where the nature <strong>of</strong> the work requires, the employee shall be provided<br />

with a desk with a lock.<br />

9. Where possible, fifteen (15) days’ notice shall be given for classroom<br />

repairs, within a school, to be made during the workday. Where alterations are<br />

planned, teachers are to be notified when the contract is let and the contemplated<br />

date for start <strong>of</strong> the work and preliminary work shall be performed<br />

without causing the contract to be performed out <strong>of</strong> the specified sequence to<br />

minimize adjustment problems.<br />

10. Each employee shall be provided with the appropriate supplies and<br />

materials required for the performance <strong>of</strong> his/her assigned tasks and duties.<br />

11. At the beginning <strong>of</strong> each school year, the appropriate <strong>of</strong>fices shall issue a<br />

list <strong>of</strong> materials, services and resources available to teachers.<br />

12. The Office <strong>of</strong> Early Childhood will bear the cost <strong>of</strong> taxi fare when an<br />

administrator deems it necessary for an employee to accompany a child for any<br />

purpose, and when the parent is not liable for the cost.<br />

13. Job descriptions shall be provided for each classification.<br />

14. The job descriptions <strong>of</strong> administrative and supervisory positions as they<br />

relate to an employee shall be made available to employees and other members<br />

<strong>of</strong> the staff.<br />

15. Whenever possible, the Office <strong>of</strong> Early Childhood will communicate all<br />

changes in policies and procedures regarding Pre-K in writing two (2) weeks<br />

before implementation.<br />

16. When necessary, security will be provided at the time <strong>of</strong> fee collection.<br />

17. When necessary, security will be provided in early morning and/or late<br />

evening.<br />

18. Disposable cups shall be used for the afternoon snack.<br />

19. The Comprehensive Early Learning Center Central Office will make<br />

arrangements for chartered bus service. <strong>School</strong>s or centers will be notified at<br />

least three (3) days prior to the day <strong>of</strong> the trip. The Comprehensive Early Learning<br />

Center Central Office shall inform schools or centers <strong>of</strong> cancellations, delays,<br />

or any changes in trip plans.<br />

20. In accordance with current state regulations, the preparation <strong>of</strong> a daily or<br />

weekly lesson plan by a teacher or any head <strong>of</strong> class is required. The preparation<br />

<strong>of</strong> a daily or weekly lesson plan outline by a teacher is required. The lesson<br />

plan outline shall include: the daily activities <strong>of</strong> the class including topic, instructional<br />

goals, instructional strategies, resources/materials and supplies and references<br />

to textbooks and curriculum guides. Each teacher shall have available<br />

emergency lesson plans for use by substitutes. If a teacher’s performance<br />

appears to be, or is becoming unsatisfactory, he/she may be required to prepare<br />

more detailed lesson plans.<br />

21. Any head <strong>of</strong> class shall have available emergency lesson plans for use by<br />

substitutes. If a teacher’s classroom performance appears to be, or is becoming<br />

unsatisfactory, he/she may be required to prepare more detailed lesson plans.<br />
