XXIV. Working Conditions <strong>of</strong> Per Diem Substitute <strong>Teachers</strong><br />

30. To the extent that the policy <strong>of</strong> providing examination credit points for<br />

student teaching and/or teaching experience continues, substitute teachers shall<br />

receive one half (½) point <strong>of</strong> examination credit for each one hundred (100)<br />

days <strong>of</strong> substitute service within a school year to a maximum <strong>of</strong> three (3)<br />

points.<br />

C. Duties<br />

Substitutes shall be required to perform only those duties normally required<br />

<strong>of</strong> an appointed employee.<br />

D. Support Services, Facilities and Supplies<br />

1. Facilities that are available to teachers shall also be available to substitute<br />

teachers.<br />

2. If a child exhibits anti-social behavior, such essential information shall be<br />

recorded in the pupil pocket and maintained for a period <strong>of</strong> eighteen (18)<br />

months if the pupil has not exhibited similar and/or related behavior.<br />

3. The <strong>School</strong> <strong>District</strong> and the <strong>Federation</strong> agree that special attention and<br />

supportive help and guidance in classroom techniques shall be provided the<br />

substitute teacher. All available resources including Principals, Assistant Principals,<br />

Department Heads and Administrative Assistants, as well as the experience<br />

and diverse abilities <strong>of</strong> all teachers, should be utilized to help orient the<br />

substitute teacher.<br />

4. Each teacher shall be provided with a sufficient number <strong>of</strong> appropriate<br />

instructional materials.<br />

Article XXV<br />

Working Conditions <strong>of</strong> Pr<strong>of</strong>essional Technical Employees<br />

A. Work Schedule<br />

1. When the calendar has been established there shall be no revision in that<br />

calendar which shall result in a change in the total number <strong>of</strong> workdays, holidays<br />

and unpaid days <strong>of</strong>f. The calendar applicable to twelve (12) month employees<br />

shall include no fewer than thirteen (13) paid holidays, among which shall<br />

be New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, the Fourth <strong>of</strong> July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving<br />

Day and Christmas Day.<br />

2. The calendar applicable to ten (10) month employees shall contain no<br />

fewer than twelve (12) paid holidays, which shall fall within their term <strong>of</strong><br />

employment.<br />

3. Any employee whose daily assignment is entirely devoted to input or<br />

research on a computer screen or terminal shall have a fifteen (15) minute<br />

break during that day.<br />

4. An employee may take one (1) week <strong>of</strong> unpaid time per year in addition<br />

to his/her vacation. Requests for such time shall be submitted in the same manner<br />

as requests for vacation.<br />
