As we always test GPS units ourselves, the various sets and software packages that we offer to the tour
riders, trippers, travellers, rally organisers, club members, leisure motorbike riders, individualists, enduro
riders and tour guides amongst you reflect our experience.
The various packages, e.g. the basic „GPS set, are explained under „What is it? and „Use?“. The GPS
unit should be fixed to a motor cycle or bicycle and have a power supply. What is needed? How it works?
A GPS set will then include: - The basic unit and standard components. - Handlebar bracket especially
Herbert Schwarz/Cuba developed for the special purpose - Connection cable for
connection to the motorbike‘s electrical system. The sets offer
an excellent price/performance ratio. You will find them on

These symbols indicate devices that have a slot for SD and microSD memory cards.
We recommend that you use the device’s USB interface or alternatively a USB card
reader to transfer data to/from the cards. For more information see the device
descriptions or pp. 138 ff. and p. 146.
Here it is possible to connect an original external aerial (more common in English!).
For these units the TMC traffic module is availab as an „option“. TMC provides
up-to-date traffic information that you can call up at any time using a specific
receiver. TMC stands for Traffic Message Channel and is an integral part of the FM
Radio Data System (RDS). Receiving data is free in Germany and in most European
countries.
As well as displaying the chosen route, these GPS units will also generate voice
prompts telling you when to turn, how to get around roundabouts, street names and
numbers and thus guide you to your interim destination. Depending on the delivery
schedule, helmet headsets (page 110ff) can be ordered separately.
Units marked with this symbol work very well with the TOURATECH QV software.

or visit www.touratech.com).
