DVD „BMW GS Off-Road Riding Skill Instructional“
Drills, Skills, Tips and Techniques for riding the BMW GS
motorcycle off-road. Adventure riding is what exists beyond
the end of the tarmac. Over 95% of the world‘s roads are
unpaved, so if you don‘t like to (or can‘t) ride in the dirt,
you‘ll find yourself confined to a mere 5% of the planet.
Big adventure bikes like the BMW “GS” motorcycle are the
SUV‘s of the motorcycle world, yet many riders are nervous
about taking them off into the dirt, even though that‘s what
they were designed for. The BMW GS Off-Road Riding Skills
DVD is designed to help “newbie” GS riders get comfortable
with the basics of riding in the dirt. The material based on
the official BMW Off-Road Riding Academy rider training
program at Rawhyde Adventures. By watching the DVD and
practicing the lessons contained within, GS riders will learn
the fundamentals of riding big adventure bikes off the pavement,
including the differences between street riding and
off-road riding, body position, balance and clutch control.
There are 13 lessons in total, including riding while standing,
lifting a fallen motorcycle off the ground, the “friction
zone”, slow speed balance, turn execution (counter-balancing),
rear wheel skids, front brake friction, ascending and
descending steep hills and riding in sand. Proper ergonomic
set up of the bike is also covered.
THE DAKAR 2006 DVD
The official DVD of the hardest rally in the world
The Dakar rally, the king of off-road competition. The most
famous, hardest desert rally in the world makes the hearts
of all lovers of sweat plus dust plus petrol beat faster. The
adrenaline rush of the ominous cross country marathon
across dunes and loose gravel roads, wadis, canyons and
river courses has had cult status for eighty years. Men and
women fight it out on cool rally bikes, souped up desert
racers and monstrous off road trucks through one of the
most inhospitable but at the same time most attractive
regions on this earth. Their aim: To burn up roughly ten
thousand kilometres right through the African continent to
Dakar to become part of a legend on the winner‘s podium
there. The 2006 Dakar legend took place under nostalgic
circumstances: exactly 20 years ago, the creator of this
sporting spectacle, the great Thierry Sabine, was killed in
a helicopter crash. Humanity, sportsmanship and fairness
were his maxims and they are still a priority today. Anyone
who sets out on this adventure knows well: obstinate lone
fighters are lost here and death is a constant companion.
But anyone who succumbs once to the „Dakar lure“ and its
spirit will certainly never forget it....
