See that the floor at the base of the wall is free from ob-<br />

structi<strong>on</strong>, and is level ; because the first row of <strong>cork</strong>boards<br />

must be applied to the wall at the floor, <strong>on</strong> a level line, so that<br />

the <strong>cork</strong>boards <strong>on</strong> the entire wall area are kept in perfect alignment<br />

and all vertical and transverse joints in the upper rows<br />

are made to fit close and are sealed tit^ht.<br />

Prepare suitable Asphalt cement in reas<strong>on</strong>able quantity,<br />

distribute it to heated pans, add the proper proporti<strong>on</strong> of<br />

<strong>cork</strong> dust and mix, dip <strong>on</strong>e flat side, <strong>on</strong>e end and <strong>on</strong>e edge of<br />

each <strong>cork</strong>board in the molten material, put the boards in<br />

proper positi<strong>on</strong> against the wall, slightly press into place and<br />

hold for a few moments until the Asphalt cement begins to<br />

cool.
