One of the first demands placed on the mechanical household refrigeration industry, however, was for a very much reduced cost of the assembled refrigerator units; and the cabinet type of corkboard insulated refrigerator with opal glass paneled lining, which was virtually a cabinetmaker's product and which did not readily lend itself to quantity production, was soon abandoned in favor of the one-piece enameled-steel lining type of refrigerator. The outside or back of an enameled steel lining does not present a level surface, and from desire to have sanitary corners within the food compartment the corners were round-
