The bat<br />

The bat may be any size, shape or weight. The blade must be constructed out of wood, be continuous,<br />

of even thickness, fl at <strong>and</strong> rigid. The sides of the blade must be matt <strong>and</strong> a uniform colour although the<br />

two sides need not have the same colour.<br />

The sides of the blade may be covered with the following:<br />

• A rubber layer with pimples pointing inwards or outwards, as well as a thin layer of sponge<br />

between the plywood centre <strong>and</strong> the rubber layer. The total thickness of this layer may not<br />

be more than 4 mm thick.<br />

• A plain rubber layer with pimples pointing inwards or outwards which may not be thicker<br />

than 2 mm.<br />

• Pimples must be evenly spaced on the rubber surface <strong>and</strong> there must be between 10 <strong>and</strong><br />

50 pimples per cm 2<br />

• The edge of the bat must be in a dark colour.<br />
