Moveable walls<br />
While courts are provided with moveable walls these walls shall comply in all aspects with the above<br />
specifi cations as if they are of a permanent construction.<br />
Out of court wall areas<br />
The walls of the court may be extended upwards as required but shall not project into the space above<br />
the court. Any wall so extended upwards shall have a plain white or light coloured matt fi nish against<br />
which the players shall be able to sight the balk without diffi culty <strong>and</strong> must have a minimum refl ectance<br />
value of 50 % as below.<br />
The fl oor<br />
The fl oor shall be level to within plus or minus 10 mm in length, width <strong>and</strong> on the diagonals of the<br />
court.<br />
Any joint in the fl oor fi nish shall be plane to within 0.25 mm. Any open joint shall not be more than 2<br />
mm wide, except that an expansion gap not more than 6 mm wide shall be allowed at the junction of<br />
the fl oor with any wall.<br />
The fl oor shall be hard, smooth, have limited spring <strong>and</strong> provide a fi rm footing in normal play.<br />
The fl oor shall either be:<br />

• Able to absorb small amounts of moisture without becoming slippery.<br />
• If provided with an impervious surface be tested in accordance with the appropriate National<br />
<strong>St<strong>and</strong>ards</strong> to demonstrate adequate slip resistance in wet conditions.<br />
• In the absence of any National <strong>St<strong>and</strong>ards</strong>, the requirements of the German DIN 18032 Part<br />
2 when tested in wet conditions is considered adequate.<br />
• The fl oor shall be kept clean of all rubber, dust particles <strong>and</strong> other deposits which may<br />
reduce the fl oor’s slip resistance.<br />
CONSTRUCTION OF COURT FLOOR<br />
Squash<br />
The construction of the fl oor to the indoor squash court facility may be briefl y described as follows:<br />
• A 250 micron damp proof layer is to be installed below a 125 mm thick (20 Mega Pascal<br />
design strength) concrete surface bed or reinforced concrete slab (in terms with structural<br />
engineering design) fi nished smooth to ensure proper adhesion.
